Museum of Childhood – Toys

Old toys are really, really funny. “Love is the Little Things you do”! Awwww. Lookit that blushing little maid and her pile of what would today be outrageously expensive copper cookware.

These Weeble things are REALLY weird. They’re basically (for the Chinese speakers) 不倒翁, but… very small. And very oddly decorated. They also, in case you can’t read the little print in the label, grow wegetables and drive wehicles (no typos there).

I could swear I had a set of little plastic toy animals just like this when I was young. You can’t really see it in this photo (I’m sorry for the crappy quality, my phone was simply incapable of taking a good picture of these little things), but the chickens come with tiny chicks, next to them.

HANDS UP if you played with this as a kid. We both had a moment of “OMG!!!” when we saw this in the display case. I had really completely forgotten all about it, but it all came rushing back when I saw the box. It’s this really funky thing where you have a disc with grooves that you spin round with a pencil inside another disc with grooves, and it makes cool patterns. I don’t know how to describe it properly. A video would probably help more:

Come on, there must have been more people out there who played with this!
