Broadway Market – Food (Part 2)

Back to the food, which as we all know is the best bit.

I didn’t try anything from this stall, but OHHHHH MY WORD. How can anything that looks like that taste bad? I was pretty bummed, actually, that practical budget constraints prevented us from getting something from every stall. This one especially. I mean… look at those berries!

In my hurry to take in all of the market, I sadly didn’t spend much time at the cheese stall. I really like cheese. Seeing this much of it made me very happy, and they had some really interesting varieties I’ve never heard of (Gubbeen? Sage Derby? Cornish Yarg?).

An ENTIRE stall devoted to mushrooms. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. And not just your typical button and chestnut and Portobello, but loads and loads of different kinds of mushrooms, many of which I have never seen in my life. Towards the end of our visit, they were frying fresh mushrooms for risotto, and the SMELL, the SMELL! This mushroom company had a website, which I happily did take note of – its identity will be revealed in a passworded post later. You can order T-shirts there which say “I’m just a spore boy, from a spore family”. No kidding.

i’d like to think the cornish yarg derives its name from the sound you make when you put a piece in your mouth :0

also, no chance of there being any magic mushrooms being on sale i suppose?
